I remember when I found this movie at Blockbuster and it turns out, the film was horrendous.
The werewolf looks terrible, the characters are as flat as cardboard (Why would a taxi driver boast about a captured werewolf to a stranger, anyway?), and there was no real conflict in the film, outside of the main character's lycanthropy.
The premise was interesting, but the film itself just didn't work out right.
Again, found at Blockbuster, so I must have the worst luck picking out films there.
First off, I did like the hybrid design in costume, but the purebreed, as far as I am concerned, only for erotica fans, not werewolf buffs. I can't stand sexual themes in werewolf films, unless they truly help move the story forwards. If it doesn't, for Pete's sake, take it out.
Case in point: the strip dancing scene in this film. Oy, gag me.
Anyway, the story plays a bit like something from a modern d20, with a main character that matched a bit too well to his situation. The gore level, however, was a great balancer in this equation.
The CGI: Horrible. Only close up do they use the costume. Any time else it's a silhouette of a normal wolf with red eyes, and the transformations are not convincing.
Like the main reviewer mentioned, the film can be compared to Terminator in many ways, but the mix of every element in this film just didn't pan out well.
Incredible. A good friend found this film for me. Ever since, it's been one of my favorites.
Thor was hands down the best character in the film, even though it is based around him and he can only stare, bark, whine and act like any German Shepherd. (I'm a dog person.)
